Wildberry Lodge

A timber lodge in the hills outside Asheville, with a view that reaches past the windows. Stay for the fire and the sunset, then make one deliberate trip into town for a memorable meal.

A room worth staying in

Blackberry Suite

Stacked-stone fireplace · mountain and sunset views

A king bed, a real stacked-stone fireplace and windows on three sides give this suite both warmth and a sense of space. There is a sunroom, a deck and a jetted tub. This is a rustic mountain-lodge setting, not a downtown hotel.

A little outside your door

The hills, then a little Asheville.

Choose one, or choose none.
These are possibilities, not a schedule.

01

A meal worth the drive

Choose Cúrate for Spanish tapas in downtown Asheville, then leave time to wander nearby. It is a lively restaurant rather than a hushed dining room; check December service and reserve separately.

02

A slow town afternoon

Browse downtown Asheville before heading back to the lodge. Chai Pani is another food possibility in the South Slope, but it does not take reservations and there may be a wait. Both mean a drive from the lodge.

An afternoon among the vines

Addison Farms Vineyard offers a quieter nearby outing. Check its current opening days and tasting arrangements before leaving the lodge, or simply keep the afternoon for the sunroom.

Getting there

A longer drive, then a mountain retreat.

Drive · around 4–4½ hours

Allow roughly 4–4½ hours from Atlanta, before an extended stop or heavy traffic. The lodge is about 15 miles outside downtown Asheville, so meals and town wandering need a separate drive. This stretches the original three-hour travel preference.

The final driveway is steep and winding. Arrive in daylight if possible, check mountain-road weather, and do not count on a walkable town base.
