Longboat Key, Florida · Sea & shore

A Gulf-facing balcony.
A softer kind of December.

Zota Beach Resort

The Gulf fills the view from the beachfront rooms at Zota. A private balcony, a broad beach and a modern resort setting offer a different rhythm from a mountain inn: more horizon, more salt air, and dinner just downstairs.

A room worth staying in

Opal Tower King · Beachfront

Private Gulf-facing balcony

The checked 400-square-foot Opal Tower King–Beachfront category has a private balcony facing the Gulf. Choose the beachfront category rather than pool-view or resort-view rooms. The resort is not adults-only, and warm swimming weather is not guaranteed in December.

A little outside your door

Follow the water, not a timetable.

Choose one, or choose none.
These are possibilities, not a schedule.

01

The beach outside

Walk along the sand and leave time for the view from your own balcony. A cool or breezy day can still be a good beach-walking day.

Viento Kitchen + Bar

The on-site restaurant keeps dinner simple when you do not want to leave the resort. Check its current menu and reserve independently of the room.

Joan M. Durante Park

Trade the resort for a quiet walk through the island’s coastal park. It is a simple nearby outing when you want something beyond the beach.

Getting there

A nonstop flight, then the key.

Fly · ATL → SRQ + ground transfer

The miles-based option uses Thursday ATL 8:29–SRQ 10:05 a.m. and Sunday SRQ 4:38–ATL 6:23 p.m. The early Thursday departure differs from the afternoon cash itinerary. Thursday is a travel-and-work day, leaving Friday and Saturday open.

Plan roughly 4½–5½ hours door to door. This stretches the three-hour preference. Onboard connectivity cannot be guaranteed, and the award departure is in the morning rather than around 4 p.m.
